Type I Diabetes Support Group

This group is intended for those with Type I Diabetes who either take insulin injections or use a pump. The group meets in the Second Floor Diabetes Classroom of the Hospital & Surgical Center on the last Tuesday of each month. There is no meeting in July, August, November, or December. Attendance is FREE.
Alcoholics Anonymous

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.

The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes.

Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Audience: Men and women who are recovering from alcoholism.
American Cancer Society

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Phone: 440-324-2211 or 440-233-5216. Some patient services, educational literature, videos, and other materials; Provide speakers for educational meetings and programs, support groups offered through area hospitals. Also have some durable equipment - wigs, Depends, etc. Audience: Individuals who are afflicted with cancer
Infant Death Support Team

This group provides information and support to families who are experiencing grief due to miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal or postnatal loss. The group meets the 2nd Thursday of each month from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Contact Tom Steubner at 440-233-1050 for more information.
Survivors of Suicide

Meeting Dates: Every other Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. Support group for family and friends for survivors of suicide. Audience: Family and friends of survivors of suicide Building And Room: 1st Lutheran Church
Stroke Survivors' Support Group

Meeting Dates: The 3rd Tuesday of each month from 3 to 4 p.m. in Classroom 2 of the Community Health Partners Medical Office Building at 3700 Kolbe Road in Lorain. This informal support group meets to address ongoing and emerging concerns for the patient and family members of those who have suffered a stroke. To facilitate maximum support, family and friends are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Audience: Survivor, family, friends coping with stroke recovery

Pulmonary Rehab Support Group

Education, counseling and activities for persons with pulmonary conditions.

Audience: People with pulmonary conditions.

Building And Room: Community Health Partners Great Lakes Rehabilitation Atrium, located just inside the Beavercrest Drive entrance.

Dates & Times: 4th Wednesday of every other month (beginning in February) at 4:00 p.m.

Autism Society: North Central Ohio Chapter

Support and education that can lead to a better quality of life for families dealing with autism. The group meets at the Avon Lake Public Library the 2nd Tuesday of each month, 7 - 9 p.m. Phone: 440-288-3551 or 419-433-7394.
Breast Cancer Support Group

Meeting Dates: First Monday of every month, 7 - 8 p.m. Support group for persons and family members going through breast cancer. Audience: Person and family members going through breast cancer Building And Room: Community Health Partners Comprehensive Cancer Center
Diabetes Support Group

The Diabetes Support Group meets the last Thursday of every month with NO meetings in July & august and November & December due to holidays and vacations. The evening support group meeting is at 7 p.m. in the Diabetes classroom the fourth Tuesday of every month. This is for Type 1 Diabetics.

Genesis House Support Group

For female victims of emotional and/or physical abuse. Meetings are held at 6 p.m. on Thursdays in Elyria, and 12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays in Lorain.

I Can Cope Program Support Group

A series of educational classes for people facing cancer. The six-week program is offered in the fall, winter, and spring. Registration is required at least three days prior to the starting date.

Audience: People facing cancer

Multiple Sclerosis Support Group

A support group for family, friends and individuals dealing with MS. 

Meeting Dates: The 2nd Thursday of each month from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Building And Room: Great Lakes Rehabilitation gym area at Community Health Partners Regional Medical Center off of Beavercrest Drive.

Lorain County Parkinson's Support Group

This group focuses on educational activities with speakers, social events such as summer picnics, a Christmas party, and support activities.

Audience: People with Parkinson's and their families and caregivers.

Building & Room: St. Joseph Hospice Center located adjacent to the main campus of Community Health Partners main entrance.

Overeaters Anonymous

Audience: Men and women recovering from compulsive eating habits

Living Through Grief Support Group

Living Through Grief is an eight-week educational support class for adults sponsored by New Life Hospice. this group is designed for persons who have experienced the death of a family member or close friend within the past year. Weekly topics offer education to help the bereaved understand and work through the process of grief. This series is offered periodically at two different locations: New Life Hospice, Elyria and The Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain.
