To maintain a consistent high standard in the processing of instruments; patient care equipment and supplies and help assure that the department will meet or exceed the JCAHO requirements and be maintained in a cost effective manner. Responsible for purchasing, inventory control, and departmental operations support/management. Responsible for acquiring all assigned supplies and products. Reviews utilization of materials purchased in order to control inventory. Maintains records and supervises designated supportive personnel. Knowledge of principles and practices of sterile processing, OSHA regulations, JCAHO guidelines at a level normally acquired through completion of the Purdue University self-directed learning program for sterile processing or a related discipline is necessary. Approximately two to three years of elated work experience in order to gain an understanding of inventory management practices. Medical background is necessary in order to evaluate and differentiate products purchased. Ability to perform mathematical calculations and demonstrate business skills as required in everyday work. Capable of mature and independent judgement as well as the ability to hold staff accountable. Must have the ability to teach and have demonstrated ability in written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. |
