Procedure Time
30-45 min.

Purpose
To view aorta or other vessels without subselecting other arteries.

Procedure

  • Patient is sent to IPU to be prepped, labs drawn and IVs, and then taken to Special Procedures.
  • Radiologist will then speak with patient and answer questions
  • Patient will then be placed on table where Radiologist will access femoral artery and run a catheter up to Aorta, where contrast injections will be made with X-ray images.
  • Catheter will then be removed and pressure held about 15 minutes to clot access site and stop bleeding.
  • Patient will be sent to IPU or floor for bed rest and observation for about 4-6 hours.
  • Patient must have someone drive them home
