Discogram-Lumbar
Procedure time
20-30 min.
Purpose
To evaluate and define the possible rupture of a disc.
Procedure
- Patient will come to the IPU before scheduled time of procedure for preparation, IV started, etc.
- Patient is then sent to Special Procedures where he will meet with the Radiologist to discuss the procedure.
- Patient will then be placed on his left side and the Radiologist will insert needles into the disc (will reproduce pain patient has been having).
- Needles will then be removed, films obtained and patient will be taken to the CT Department for more filming.
- Patient will then be released and must have someone drive them home.
