What to bring to the hospital?

Q. I am going to deliver my baby in the next weeks at Mercy Fairfield. I was wondering what I need to bring for the baby, related to clothes, diapers, wipes, towel, etc. What does the hospital take care of and what doe I have to bring for the hospital stay?

A. Mercy Fairfield will be sure that you have all the supplies you will need to care for your baby while you are here. We provide diapers, T-shirts, washcloths, blankets and any soaps, etc. that you will need. We use disposable towelette that is wet with tap water for diaper changes. Babies are more likely to have allergic reactions to pre-moistened diaper wipes in the first few days of life so we just use plain water for diaper changes. We encourage mothers to breastfeed but do have a variety of both Similac and Enfamil produces available should you choose to bottle feed your baby. Your can certainly welcome to use any of your own items from home while you are here but we have all of these things available for your use and convenience. You will just need to be sure you have an outfit for the baby to wear home as well as any blankets, etc. that you may wish to use enroute.
