Mike Combs

Prior to his position with the Mercy
HealthPlex, Combes was the Executive Director of the Michigan Athletic Club
(MAC) in East Lansing, Michigan. During his tenure at the MAC, club
membership soared to over 8,000 members. In 1996, Combes oversaw the
planning, construction and opening of a 100,000 square foot expansion that
increased the size of the MAC to 270,000 square feet, thus making it the
third largest club in the nation.

Mike is also a Partner and Vice President of
MedSport Enterprises, a club industry management and consulting company
which has managed four hospital based clubs in Michigan (Grand Rapids, East
Lansing, Grand Blanc and Kalamazoo) along with two clubs in Louisville,
Kentucky. Prior to joining MedSport and the MAC, Combes oversaw the
construction, opening and management of the Henry Crown Sports Pavilion and
Norris Aquatics Center at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
This center is widely recognized as one of the nation’s premier university
recreation facilities. Mike has a Masters of Arts (1980) and Bachelor of
Science (1979) degrees from Michigan State University. He has been married
to his wife Karen for 23 years and has four children (Kaitlyn 20, Nicholas
18, Timothy 11 and Julia 8).
