Through our hospitals, health education, health screenings, outreach programs, and social services, Mercy Health Partners provided more than $42 million in total community benefit last year.
As a not-for-profit healthcare system, our earnings are not paid to investors. Rather, they are invested in our communities to support innovative patient care programs, chronic care initiatives, expanded capabilities, new technologies, and new and updated facilities.

As we mark our 150th anniversary of the arrival of the Sisters of Mercy and the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor to Cincinnati in 1858, it is important to note that our Mission has never changed. Mercy continues to support the work of the sisters and extend the healing ministry of Jesus by improving the health of the poor and underserved. We do this by adhering closely to our Core Values - Compassion, Excellence, Human Dignity, Justice, Sacredness of Life and Service.

Through Mercy Franciscan at St. John and Mercy Franciscan at St. Raphael, we provide social services that include employment training opportunities, conflict resolution and civic responsibility. And, we offer healthcare services such as chronic disease management, vision screenings, and diabetes education.

|
Our Outreach Nurses help thousands of less fortunate residents every year by going into the community to deliver basic medical services, health screenings, health education and exercise and wellness programs. |
Mercy provided 35 free diabetes screenings to the community in 2007 as we work to address the rapid increase of the disease in the U.S. These screenings help diagnose diabetes and provide treatment before health issues associated with Diabetes develop.
Mercy also provided a variety of other health screenings, including blood pressure and cholesterol, to the public through health fairs at our hospitals and other locations throughout Greater Cincinnati.
