(Cincinnati) – The Hamilton County Rural Zoning Commission has given unanimous approval for plans by Mercy Health Partners to develop a new hospital in Green Township.  The Hamilton County Rural Zoning Commission members voted 5-0 in favor of the proposal to re-zone the planned site for the hospital on North Bend Road, just off I-74.

This approval follows unanimous votes in favor of re-zoning from the Green Township Trustees and the Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission.  The final step of the process is approval by the Hamilton County Commissioners, who are expected to consider the proposal next month.

Mercy plans to use the centrally-located site in Green Township as the hub for efforts to expand access to acute care, primary care and a variety of outpatient services for residents on the west side and in western Hamilton County.  The project includes:

  • A state-of-the-art hospital that will offer leading physicians, new technology and the latest advancements in patient care and comfort;
  • Expanded access to comprehensive cancer and heart care;
  • A hospital campus on a 60-acre parcel that incorporates existing green space and adds a walking/biking trail that would be connected to trails being planned by Green Township.
  • Updates to North Bend Road that will address the expected increase in traffic.
