HeartCaring
HeartCaring is a physician-based clinical outreach program with a focus on a gender-specific approach to cardiovascular disease. With educational support from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, the program is designed to motivate women to take action to protect their hearts. Certified HeartCaring hospitals and physician practices subscribe to a set of standards acknowledging and practicing a gender-based approach to heart disease.
Goals of HeartCaring:
- To recognize that women are different in their heart healthcare needs.
- To assist women in making positive healthy choices to prevent coronary heart disease.
- To educate women about symptoms of heart disease.
Mercy's HeartCaring program is currently under development and is scheduled to launch in our communities in the summer of 2008. Watch for more details, or visit www.heartcaring.com to learn more about this national program.
