Brothers and Sisters
This fun class is for the children in the family preparing to welcome the new baby. Siblings-to-be, ages three to 10, will learn how a new baby looks and acts, what happens while Mom and baby are in the hospital, and what to expect those first weeks at home. Activities, discussion and a tour of the birthing center help children feel a part of the experience. Each child should bring a doll or stuffed animal to diaper and bundle.
Cost is $20 per family of four.
Family Preparation for Siblings at Delivery
This individualized family class is for children who will be attending their mother's labor and delivery. This one-time class prepares children for the sights and sounds of childbirth. Class time includes discussion, demonstration, a video showing the delivery of a baby and a tour of our birthing center. Parents, grandparents and support persons welcome. Prior discussion/approval of physician or midwife is encouraged. Cost is $50 per family.
Tours of the Family Birthing Center
Tours of the Family Birthing Centers at Mercy Hospital Anderson and Mercy Hospital Fairfield are provided during childbirth and sibling classes. Other tours are also available. Tours are required for family, friends and doulas that want to be present at the delivery. For more information, please call the hospital. No charge.
