Sea Wolves Competitive Swimming

The Sea Wolves is one of the newest and best swim teams in the area. The team is coached by former University of Cincinnati swimmer and certified Dietitian Aaron Dorfman. In just three years, the Sea Wolves became the small team state champions of Ohio! The Mercy Healthplex Sea Wolves is a year-round USA registered swim team.

The Sea Wolves are……..
- Made to order. Come to as many practices/meets as you like – tailor the program to YOUR needs.
- NOT a fundraising team and we don’t run swim meets.
- Housed in a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility.
- Successful! We won the Ohio small team age group state championship in the Fall/Winter of 2007.

NEW SEASON STARTS APRIL 19!

The Sea Wolves is a small team that focuses on technique, endurance and speed training. We have afternoon practice times to cater to our summer swim club swimmers. The Sea Wolves are a non fundraising team and we coach children between the ages of 6 – 18. The season runs through mid July and non-members are welcome to join.

** Novice swimmers (swimmers that have not been on a competitive team before) will be asked to do a short in-water try out. Please bring your swimsuit and goggles. Try-outs will last 5-10 minutes per person.

SEA WOLVES STROKE CLINIC - Anderson and Fairfield HealthPlexes
Monday, April 12 – Friday, April 16, 4:30 pm – 6pm

Experience the difference a week makes in this swim clinic put on by the Mercy Healthplex Sea Wolves Swim Coaches. The clinic will focus on technique on all four strokes, turns, starts and streamlines. Get a jump on the fall season now! Ages 8-18

MASTERS SWIM TEAM - Anderson HealthPlex
Triathletes, weekend warriors, and lap swimmers are invited to join this masters swim program that provides structured swim workouts with Sea Wolves Head Coach Aaron Dorfman. In order to join the masters swim group, you must be able to swim one length in the lap pool unassisted. Swimmers should be comfortable circle swimming and sharing lanes with other participants.

Group 1: Beginner and Intermediate
April 12 – July 12, Mondays and Wednesdays, 12:15 – 1:15pm
Cost: $79 for Members, $129 for Non-members

Group 2: Intermediate and Advanced
April 13 – July 13, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30 – 6:45am
Cost: $89 for Members, $139 for Non-members

MERCY SWIM INSTRUCTOR IS COACH OF THE YEAR

Mercy HealthPlex Swim Coach Aaron Dorfman was elected Ohio Swimming Coach of the Year by his fellow coaches at the annual Ohio Junior Olympic Swim Meet at Miami University July 16-19.

Aaron coaches the Mercy HealthPlex Sea Wolves at both the Anderson and Fairfield HealthPlexes.

"It is an amazing honor to be recognized by my fellow Ohio swimming coaches. I look up to so many of these coaches and to know that they respect the work that I do with the Sea Wolves is unbelievable," said Aaron.

Aaron was also appointed a Team Ohio Swim Coach for the Central Zone Championships held in Nobelsville, Ind., Aug. 6-9.

He will coach the top swimmers from the Ohio Junior Olympic Swim Meet as they compete against top swimmers from 11 other states at the Central Zone Championships.

The Sea Wolves Swim Team consists of swimmers age 6-18 years old and trains at Mercy HealthPlex Anderson and Mercy HealthPlex Fairfield. They had an impressive showing at the Ohio Junior Olympic Swim Meet.

A total 20 Sea Wolves swimmers qualified for the meet with four individuals and two relay teams placing in the top eight of their events.

The team placed 11th overall - their highest placing yet.

The Sea Wolves top eight individual finishers were Sadie DeCamp of Terrace Park (50 back, 4th; 100 back, 4th; 50 fly, 4th; 100 fly, 7th; 200 IM, 7th; 100 free, 8th), Mikka Miquiabas of Fairfield (50 fly, 3rd), Julia Moran of Hyde Park (50 free, 6th) and Phillip Englert of Fort Thomas (100 fly, 2nd; 100 free, 3rd; 50 free, tie 3rd; 200 IM, 4th; 200 free, 6th; 100 breast, 8th).

The girls 10 and under top eight relay team (200 Medley, 2nd; 100 Free, 4th) swimmers were Julia Moran, Sadie DeCamp, Mikka Miquiabas and Maryanne Smith of Anderson.

The 13-14 boys' relay team (200 Medley, 4th; 200 Free, 6th) swimmers were Phillip Englert, Marshall Smith of Anderson, Matthew Keller of White Oak and Ben Hopper of Anderson.

In addition, six Sea Wolves qualified for the Central Zone Championships. They will be joining Coach Aaron in August in Noblesville, Ind. Those swimmers are Julia Moran, Phillip Englert, Mikka Miquiabas, Mac Lewis of Terrace Park and Jessie and Erin Peck of Alexandria.

SEAWOLVES SUCCESSFUL AT THE 2009 OHIO JUNIOR OLYMPIC SWIM MEET

The SeaWolves Swim Team had an impressive showing at the Ohio Junior Olympic Swim Meet. Twenty SeaWolves swimmers qualified for the meet with four individuals and two relay teams placing in the top eight of their events. The team placed 11th overall – their highest placing yet!

In addition, six SeaWolves qualified to move on to the Central Zone Championships. They will be joining Coach Aaron in August in Noblesville, Indiana. Those swimmers are Julia Moran, Phillip Englert, Mikka Miquiabas, Mac Lewis and Jessie and Erin Peck.

SEAWOLVES AMONG BEST IN JUNIOR OLYMPICS

Mercy HealthPlex Sea Wolves swim team members Erin Peck of Alexandria, Jessica Peck of Alexandria, Phillip Englert and Victoria Englert of Fort Thomas swam in the 2009 Ohio Junior Olympic Championship Swim Meet at Bowling Green University March 13-15 among the fastest swimmers from about 40 teams from Ohio and Northern Kentucky.

Peck, 10, won the state championship for her bracket, and placed first in the 50 yard breaststroke and the 100-yard individual medley.

She is ranked 11th in the nation in the 50-yard breaststroke for her age bracket.

Englert and Peck both swam on the 11-12 girls' relay team, which included at 13th place finish in the 200 freestyle relay.

The Sea Wolves placed 14th overall. Phillip Englert made fourth place in the 100 freestyle, fifth in the 50 freestyle, sixth in the 100 butterfly and 11th in the 100 backstroke.

His relay team finished 10th in the 200 medley and 12th in the 200 relay.
