Mercy Receives Approval from Green Township Trustees

6/10/2009     --

(GREEN TOWNSHIP) – Mercy Health Partners is taking the next step toward developing a new hospital in Green Township. On Monday night, Green Township Trustees unanimously approved Mercy’s proposal to develop a new hospital campus on North Bend Road, just off I-74.

"We’re very pleased that the Trustees gave us a vote of approval," said James May, president/CEO of Mercy Health Partners. "We are committed to continuing to work with area residents in developing a new hospital and healthcare services that will benefit Green Township, as well as the residents of Cincinnati and western Hamilton County."

Mercy Health Partners has acquired the rights to purchase 60 acres of land on North Bend Road near I-74. Development of this land is pending zoning changes and government approval. The next step in the process will be presenting the proposal to the Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission.

Prior to taking the vote on Monday night as part of their regularly scheduled public meeting, Green Township administrators talked about research they did into some of Mercy’s other hospitals in similar communities and the impact on those communities. The administrators were extremely impressed with the feedback they received from community leaders in Fairfield regarding Mercy Hospital Fairfield and in Anderson Township regarding Mercy Hospital Anderson. They noted that in each case Mercy has proven to be a "great corporate citizen" and has had a very positive impact on the community.

Mercy plans to use this centrally-located proposed site in Green Township as the hub for efforts to expand access to acute care, primary care and a variety of outpatient services, including chronic care management. Below are other highlights of the plans for the development.

Mercy is developing a state-of-the-art hospital that will offer leading physicians, new technology, and the latest advancements in patient care and comfort.

The proposed hospital will expand access in Cincinnati and western Hamilton County to comprehensive cancer and heart care, including open heart surgery.

The proposed hospital will be built on the 60-acre parcel and located closest to I-74. According to preliminary plans, the nearest point of the hospital would sit more than 2,000 feet (approximately seven football fields) from North Bend Road and St. Ignatius of Loyola.
