Women’s Heart Attack Symptoms often Different

You may think chest pain is the main symptom of heart attack, and it is for many people. But a new study has shown that fewer than 30 percent of women reported chest pain and discomfort just before having a heart attack, and 43 percent did not have chest pain during a heart attack.

The women in the study reported the following symptoms most frequently before a heart attack:

  • An unusual level of fatigue
  • Major sleep difficulty
  • Shortness of breath
  • Indigestion
  • Anxiety

They reported the following symptoms most frequently during a heart attack:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Weakness
  • Unusual fatigue
  • Cold sweat
  • Dizziness
