Don’t Leave out the Clinical Breast Exam

If you’re getting mammograms that’s great, but a recent study has shown that a lot of women are leaving out one important way to find cancer early—the clinical breast exam (CBE).

The American Cancer Society (ACS) recommends mammograms every year for women 40 and older. Mammograms are not fool proof though, so the ACS recommends a CBE every three years for women in their 20s and 30s and every year for women 40 and older. The CBE also provides an opportunity for the clinician to education women about breast cancer risks and prevention.
