About CMHP Pediatrics
The pediatric unit, located on the third floor (west wing) of Springfield Regional Medical Center - High St., provides care for newborns to 21-year-olds. Our highly skilled, experienced physicians and nursing staff treat children with a variety of general illnesses, respiratory problems, infectious diseases and post-surgery needs.
Each one of our nurses specializes in pediatric care and is certified in PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), adding a greater level of training in caring for your child.
Locally, CMHP Pediatrics works closely with local pediatricians, Mercy Well Child Pediatrics in Urbana, the Rocking Horse Center and other health agencies to provide your child with a multidisciplinary approach to treatment.
In 2008, CMHP formed a partnership with Dayton Children's Medical Center. Forming this partnership means that staff at CMHP will be trained to take care of local children in the same way that they would receive care at Dayton Children’s. This may shorten a child’s stay in the hospital. Additionally, providing this service means that children will receive care closer to home.

During Your Stay
Our number one priority is to provide comfort and care to your child. We understand the importance a parent or guardian plays during the recovery process. That's why we encourage one parent or guardian to stay with their child while they are in our care. This helps develop teamwork and builds trusting relationships during hospitalization.
Unit Amenities- Each room is equipped with a dedicated phone and phone line. Cell phones are also permitted. In respect for the privacy of our other patients, we ask that all incoming calls after 10 p.m. be made to the operator (325-0531) and the call be transferred.
- A microwave, refrigerator and ice machine are available for use. All food brought in by the family must be labeled and placed in the parents' refrigerator.
