ALCOHOL AND DRUG TREATMENT

Community Mercy REACH provides adults and adolescents outpatient alcohol and drug treatment programs at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Urbana and Springfield Regional Medical Center - Fountain Blvd. campus (MercyCrest Building, Suite 204) in Springfield. Treatment is provided based on the individual needs and client's diagnosis. Treatment is provided by qualified, licensed therapists who are experienced in addictions therapy. Community Mercy REACH accepts most insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, and works with a sliding fee scale for clients who qualify for assistance. Community Mercy REACH also provides anger management and education programs, a smoking cessation program, and conducts Drug-Free Work Place Training required by the Bureau of Workers Compensation program.

Pink Ribbon Society
This group, facilitated by breast cancer survivors, provides a caring atmosphere in which women in all stages of survival can reach out to each other, offer help in coping and have the opportunity to openly discuss their experience with breast cancer.
Meetings are held on the the 1st Tuesday of the month.

Man to Man
A national program developed by the American Cancer Society, this group offers presentations and discussions on topics related to prostate cancer. The group is facilitated by a cancer survivor.
Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. No meetings scheduled during the months of June, July, August or December..

Caring Friends
Caring Friends provides cancer information and support in a caring and comfortable setting. This group is open to anyone who has a past or present diagnosis of cancer as well as family and friends.

Look Good...Feel Better
In this national program offered by the American Cancer Society, women learn how to cope with skin and hair changes during cancer treatments. Each patient receives a free make-up kit.
Programs are held on the 4th Tuesday of the month.

CHILDBIRTH

Childbirth Education Classes
The Birthing Center at Springfield Regional Medical Center (High St.) offers a variety of classes for soon-to-be-parents including childbirth preparation, breastfeeding, infant CPR, infant massage and baby care. DIABETES

Diabetes Self Management Classes
Morning, afternoon, and evening classes are available to help adults with diabetes live an active, healthy life. A nurse and dietitian will provide information about meal planning, medications, glucose monitoring, foot and dental care, psychosocial adjustment and the prevention/detection of acute and chronic complications. A physician's order is required. This is an American Diabetes Association Education Recognized Program.
Classes are offered at the Springfield Regional Imaging Center, 1343 N. Fountain Blvd., Springfield.

Diabetes Self Management--Follow-up Course
This two-hour refresher course is available after completion of the initial Diabetes Self Management Class. It focuses on increased emphasis on self management skills and nutrition. This is an American Diabetes Association Education Recognized Program.

Gestational Diabetes Education Classes
If you have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes, these classes will help you learn how to manage your diabetes while you are pregnant. This is an American Diabetes Association Education Recognized Program.

FITNESS

Zumba Exercise Class
Zumba® is aerobic exercise fused with Latin dance moves. Participants can burn up to 450 calories in an hour class all while having a lot of fun. The music is upbeat, composed of salsa, merengue and cumbia. The choreopgraphy involves easy steps that are repetitive. Zumba is for all ages. Ditch the workout and join the party!

QUIT SMOKING!

Smoking Cessation Classes
A unique 6-week tobacco treatment program which incorporates support, nutrition counseling/weight control, a supervised exercise program and a team of healthcare professionals. Employer-based group therapy is provided on location of the employer.

Tobacco Education
A 4-session tobacco education program for youth who violate school or community tobacco policies. The program provides youth with opportunities to evaluate their own tobacco use, explore healthier options with an emphasis on the benefits of quitting tobacco.

Community Mercy REACH promotes education of the community regarding 100% tobacco-free policies and worksites. Community Mercy REACH presents to local groups and organizations to educate, publicize available services, and to assist in resolving issues facing the public regarding tobacco use and abuse.
