Each year, more than 1800 women deliver their babies in Springfield Regional Medical Center's family-focused
Birthing Center. Here, experienced obstetricians, neonatalologists and obstetrical and neonatal nurses provide a special brand of maternity care that
blends impressive technology with warmth and personal attention. Indeed, the overwhelmingly positive, customer feedback received from our Birthing Center
patients is an ongoing tribute to the fine efforts of our dedicated, experienced and caring staff.
As a Level II facility, the Birthing Center is equipped to manage the diagnosis and treatment of selected high-risk
pregnancies and neonatal problems, in addition to routine perinatal care. This unusual depth of service has evolved over a number of years, and represents
a significant investment in facilities, equipment, and extensive staff education.
Our state-of-the-art Birthing Center features the popular concept of single-room, maturnity care. Offering advanced obstetrical
technology in a home-like setting, the Center includes 17 birthing suites, a special Caesarean surgery area and eight Caesarean section post-partum rooms.
A Level II Nursery, staffed by neonatologists and pediatricians who also staff The Children's Medical Center of Dayton, includes 25 newborn beds in addition
to a six-bed intermediate care nursery for babies with special needs. Our nursery is one of the few Level II facilities in Ohio.
Today, Springfield Regional Medical Center continues to expand its array of services for obstetrical patients with the addition to its medical staff of perinatologists -
obstetricians specializing in high-risk obstetrics and maternal-fetal medicine. Services such as these
enable local families to receive advanced care without ever having to leave the community.
