The American Nurses Association is a full-service professional organization representing the nation's 2.6 million Registered Nurses through its 53 constituent state associations and 13 organizational affiliate members. ANA advances the nursing profession by fostering high standards of nursing practice, promoting the economic and general welfare of nurses in the workplace, projecting a positive and realistic view of nursing, and by lobbying the Congress and regulatory agencies on health care issues affecting nurses and the public.
The International Journal of Nursing Studies publishes material of interest to an international readership of nurses, midwives and others interested in nursing and caring sciences. It informs readers about changes and developments worldwide and so contributes to advances in health care both inside and outside hospitals. The material published may contribute to developments in practice, education and the organisation of health services.
The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) is responsible for the specialized accreditation of nursing education schools and programs, both post-secondary and higher degree.
