Visiting Patients During Flu Season

To protect our patients and you, we are restricting patient visitors to minimize the spread of the flu for the next few months at Springfield Regional Medical Center – High St. and Fountain Blvd. campuses and Mercy Memorial Hospital.
These restrictions include:
- No visitors who are under age 14 (including siblings of newborns).
- Visitors cannot visit if they are ill with any respiratory symptoms, including coughing, runny nose, sneezing, and fever.
These restrictions will remain in effect until the end of the flu season. Thank you for your assistance.
Flu Information from the CDC
The CDC offers the following advice to prevent the spread of any type of influenza:
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
- Influenza is thought to spread mainly person-to-person through coughing or sneezing of infected people.
- If you get sick, CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting
