For more than 85 years, St. Rita's Medical Center has been committed to serving others in their time of need. Since opening the doors to the Medical Center ahead of schedule to care for patients during an influenza epidemic, the mission of helping the poor, the elderly and the community achieve and maintain better health has remained steadfast.
Still today the mission continues, but working to improve the health of our community takes teamwork.
St. Rita's Development Council is a group of volunteers who assist the Medical Center by developing community education and service programs which result in greater visibility and increased philanthropic support. The Development Council plays an important role in assuring the future of St. Rita's as a leader in healthcare.
St. Rita's Development Council's current campaign is to raise dollars toward the $130 Million Dollar project "Medical Center of the Future."
The Medical Center of the Future allows for much needed expansion, a greater focus on patients and families, space for advanced technology, easier access and additional parking. Encompassed in this project is a nine-story patient tower situated on the corner of High and Collett Streets. The first three patient floors of the tower opened in 2007 with 84 new patient rooms. To better meet the needs of our patients and families, the rooms are nearly twice the size of our current inpatient rooms. The new floors are dedicated to specialized centers for heart and cancer, among others. In addition there are convenient outpatient services off the main lobby, a two story meditation area, new main entrance and lobby, Health Resource Center for the public, expanded gift shop and coffee shop, and a new large modern cafeteria.
St. Rita's Medical Center continues its dedication in providing our community the finest in health care. This could not be accomplished without the efforts of many individuals, businesses and organizations.
