Early Detection Center
The Early Detection Center at St. Mary's Medical Center offers free online health risk assessments for heart disease, stroke and vascular diseases. The online assessments take less then seven minutes to complete, and all participants remain completely anonymous.
Click on the HEARTaware or STROKEaware links to the left to get started.
Once the assessment is complete, each participant is scored immediately, indicating the overall health risks. Also included in the online assessments are reports detailing your specific risk factors, as well as recommendations to reduce your risk.
If you are at risk you can receive one-on-one counseling at the Early Detection Center with a registered nurse and be screened annually for a period of up to five years, receiving progress reports at each consult, trending risk factor improvements.
At the Early Detection Center you will meet with a registered nurse who will:
- Perform a short history and physical.
- Measure your cholesterol, blood pressure, height, weight and BMI (body mass index).
- Review all information gathered from the online risk assessments.
- Educate you about your risk factors.
- Develop an action plan to reduce disease risk.
- Update all your information on your risk report.
- Print a complete patient report to take with you to review with your physician.
