Women's Pavilion Renovations
For more than a quarter of a century, St. Mary’s Health System has remained faithful to our mission “to extend the healing ministry of Jesus by improving the health of our community with emphasis on people who are poor and underserved.”
Over the years, St. Mary’s has had a special commitment to caring for women and newborns. In fact, our physicians and staff have delivered nearly 100,000 babies since we opened St. Mary’s Medical Center in 1930. Some families have delivered three generations of babies at St. Mary’s. And the St. Mary’s family continues to grow. Approximately 2,000 women deliver babies at St. Mary’s facilities each year.
Need for Change
Devoted solely to the unique needs of women, the Women’s Pavilion at St. Mary’s Medical Center is a family tradition. Built in 1989, it is the first free-standing women’s center in the region. It includes 22 private birthing rooms; 10 gynecology rooms, two surgical suites for Caesarean delivery and outpatient gynecology surgery; and a 15-bed special care nursery.
As you might expect, both time and our impressive patient volumes have taken their toll on the Women’s Pavilion and a “face lift” is needed. As a result, we have embarked on a capital campaign to raise $2.1 million to invest in the latest equipment and contemporary furnishings. This endeavor will ensure that our facility is on par with the excellent patient care and quality standards provided by our medical staff.
What will be done?
About one-half of the money raised will fund new patient beds, cribs, infant warmers and other furnishings. Another $400,000 will be designated for advanced technology including a new infant security system, patient call system, video telephone system and Web cam. The remainder will be used to renovate and redecorate patient rooms, educational areas and the family plaza.
These enhancements will allow St. Mary’s expert physicians and staff to continue providing quality care to women and babies in a safe, comfortable environment. We humbly ask for your help to make our vision for the Women’s Pavilion a reality.
