President's Message
What an exciting time it is for East Tennessee as we bring together two great
faith-based institutions to extend the healing ministry of Jesus throughout our
region. Healthcare in the United States is facing unprecedented demands from the
public, government, managed-care companies, the business community and a host of
others. I believe the merging of Baptist and St. Mary’s will position us to be able to respond to these and other challenges far more effectively than either of us could by ourselves.
As you see, our new corporate name is Mercy Health Partners. Our organization represents 10 acute care hospitals, more than 1,500 physicians, and a number of outpatient centers in 10 counties. And while all St. Mary’s and Baptist facilities will retain their names, together this new system will offer an unparalleled degree of care never before possible.
I believe our greatest asset is the fact we share a common mission: extending the healing ministry of Jesus. Our faith permeates everything we do and will provide both Baptist and St. Mary’s the strength and inspiration we will need as we move forward.
Together, we will be a force for good in this community, not only providing the very best care possible for those who are sick and suffering but also providing leadership for our whole region as together we reach our potential as the best possible place for all to live, work, worship and play together. I look forward to working with the community to make this vision a reality.
God bless,
Debra K. London
