About the Foundation
The Mercy St. Charles Hospital Foundation is a charitable, tax-exempt public foundation founded in 1981 for the purpose of supporting the programs and services of the Mercy St. Charles Hospital by extending the healing ministry of Jesus by improving the health of the community with emphasis on people who are poor and underserved. The Foundation is managed by a board of distinguished local professionals, business, medical and civic leaders who oversee operations and philanthropic investment activities.
The Foundation accepts gifts through bequests, gift annuities, charitable remainder and lead trusts, gifts of real estate, gifts of appreciated securities and select other charitable arrangements.
Gifts from generous donors and underwriting sponsors have enabled the Mercy St. Charles Hospital Foundation to support a number of programs and services of the hospital. Some examples include: - Funded financial assistance to families through the Family Fund.
- Funded prescription assistance for patients without drug coverage.
- Purchased state of the art equipment for the Cardiology and Cancer Centers, Pain Care Clinic.
- Established endowments for geriatric, general patient, psychiatric and cancer patient care and prescription drug coverage.
- Funded research related to education of nursing students.
- Created the Memorial Garden and funded the front lobby renovations.
- Presented scholarships to graduating high school seniors entering college.
