How We Help
For more than 30 years the Foundation has been the designated gift receiving entity for Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. These generous donations allow the ever-evolving relationship between the community and the hospital to fund programs that serve and benefit those in need.
With great appreciation to the generous and compassionate individuals, organizations, and businesses, the Foundation is able to support a diverse spectrum of educational and other health care services and programs for patients and their families through grants and allocations that advance the level of care provided through St. V’s employees and the Medical Center, and extend access to medical care for the underserved throughout the area.
Through its investments, the Foundation has played a significant role in: the redesign and expansion of Mercy Children's Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) combining state-of-the-art technology in a family-centered environment, making it the most advanced unit of its kind in our region, providing specialized medical care for premature babies and sick newborns; continuation and growth of the Senior Outreach Program, providing comprehensive home-based interventions that assist low-income, frail elderly to manage life with chronic illness; and continuing the influential efforts of the Hospitality Van Service that transports patients to outpatient services at St. V’s and its outpatient centers, just to name a few.
Several programs and service areas receive donations on a regular basis from individuals and corporations in appreciation and recognition of the important care that is provided. For these programs, designated funds have already been established and are readily accessible to administrators and staff as needs arise.
The Foundation also manages several important and lasting endowments in numerous areas of patient care, education and research. Endowed funds are often established by individuals or organizations in honor, in memory or in appreciation of individuals or to support the long-term needs of a program or service, such as a unit within the hospital.
Periodically the Foundation provides support for capital projects and equipment that enhance the health of the community. The Foundation also supports numerous health outreach programs in local neighborhoods and nearby schools to bring healthcare where it is needed most.
