Our cancer center, located in the east wing of St. Charles Mercy Hospital, combines Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology. What this means to our patients and their families is:

All cancer-related treatments and services are in one location, with plenty of free parking and easy accessibility for people with disabilities. You have access to the latest in cancer treatments in the warm and caring atmosphere of a community hospital.
Continuity of Care
You will be greeted and treated by the same friendly familiar faces each visit, whether it's for chemotherapy or radiation treatments.
Quality of Care
We have invested in the newest, state-of-the-art linear accelerator, expanding the treatments we can offer. Our professional staff is highly qualified, with nurses certified in medical oncology. In fact, all of our Cancer Center team members have had special training in radiation therapy.
Comfort
The physical surroundings were designed with your comfort in mind. Private consultation rooms are available for you and your family to discuss treatments with your doctor.
Pastoral Care
Difficult situations, like cancer treatment, can create a good deal of stress for patients and their families. When requested, our pastoral care staff strives to treat the "wholeness" of our patients with a special emphasis on spiritual needs. Our goal is to join with you, support you, and pray for you, always with respect to your beliefs and religious traditions.
Improved, Open Communications
It is our goal to provide an environment that encourages direct communication and responsiveness. To enhance accessability, all of our services are centrally located. This allows our staff and physicians the ability to consult with one another quickly and conveniently regarding your treatment. Whether it's a discussion between the medical oncologist and radiation oncologist, or a therapist and a physician, there is no time lost scheduling meetings or arranging phone calls to discuss treatment options.
A Multi-Disciplinary Approach
Physicians, physicists, dieticians, nurses and therapists are all part of a multi-disciplinary team assembled to monitor your care. During weekly meetings, each team member reviews individual treatment information to make sure your treatment is proceeding according to plan.
Your Initial Visit
Please be aware that there are several things which must be accomplished during your initial visit. They include:
- Handling of all pertinent insurance information and filling out forms.
- Reviewing the list of all medications currently prescribed for you.
- Reviewing all requested medical records and x-rays.
If you Require Radiation Therapy
Your physician will call to schedule an initial consultation. After this consultation, a mutually agreed upon time will be reserved for you daily.
If you Require Chemotherapy
Your physician will call to schedule an initial consultation. Your specific treatment day and time might change weekly according to your treatment regimen.
We recommend that whenever possible, chemotherapy patients have another person come with them to their appointments.

We encourage you to telephone us with any concerns or questions that you or your family may have about your treatment. Our staff is highly trained and can answer your questions. In the event that we cannot give you an answer right away, we'll refer your question to a physician and he or she will return your call. Please contact us at 419-696-7465.

Making Appointments
To schedule an appointment, call 419-696-7465. If you need to cancel your appointment, kindly provide us 24 hours notice, as we may have other patients needing attention.
Prescriptions
All new or refill prescriptions should be requested during normal work hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. Please have your pharmacy name and telephone number ready when you call. For convenience, you may choose to use the outpatient pharmacy located at St. Charles. Call 419-696-7575 if you have questions.
Billing Procedures
The Mercy Cancer Center at St. Charles accepts most insurance programs. For specific questions relating to your particular insurance, please contact our Patient Accounts Department at 419-696-7660.
