  • A hand-carved Shona sculpture entitled “A Healer’s Touch”

  • “A Healer’s Touch” Sculpture
These serpentine stone sculptures are hand-carved for the DAISY Foundation by artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe.
The sculptures are especially meaningful because of the profound respect the Shona people pay their traditional healers. Shona healers are affectionately regarded as treasurers by those they care for, and the well-being and safety of the healer is of community-wide importance. This describes exactly how the DAISY Foundation feels about nurses.
Since the sculptures are hand-crafted, each one is different, and each one is signed by the artist. These artists support some 500 people in their extended families with the money earned from the DAISY Foundation.
