Thomas P. Marnejon, DO, FACP

Dr. Marnejon received his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a rotating internship at Millcreek Community Hospital, Erie, PA and an internal medicine residency here at St Elizabeth’s. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine and the American Osteopathic Association. He is an active participant in medical research and enjoys working with residents on case reports and research projects.

Charles E. Wilkins, MD
Associate Professor of Medicine, NEOUCOM

Director of Geriatric Medicine, Internal Medicine Residency Program

Dr. Wilkins received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati. He completed his internal medicine residency training at St. Elizabeth’s and a geriatric fellowship at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and has added qualifications from the Board in geriatric medicine. Dr. Wilkins served as program director of our internal medicine residency program from 1992-1996. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor at Ohio University College of Medicine in Athens, OH and serves as geriatric clerkship director for that medical school. Dr. Wilkins is a member of the American Geriatric Society, the British Geriatric Society, and the Wilderness Medical Society.

Cynthia A. Kravec, MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine, NEOUCOM

Dr. Kravec received her medical degree from the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine and was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. She completed an internal medicine residency at Summa Health System Akron City Hospital, where she was selected as medical student teacher of the year and resident of the year. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.She is a member of the American College of Physicians and the NEOUCOM Alumni Association Board of Directors. Her academic interests include topics in women’s health, fitness, nutrition and teaching of medical students. Dr. Kravec lives in Canfield, Ohio with her husband Jim. She is a Cleveland native, graduating from Kent State University. Her interests include Cleveland sports, Taebo, scrap booking, and music.

James F. Kravec, MD

Dr. Kravec received his medical degree from the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. He completed an internal medicine residency at Summa Health System Akron City Hospital, where he was selected as medical student teacher of the year and resident of the year. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the NEOUCOM Alumni Association Board of Directors and the NEOUCOM Foundation Board of Directors. His academic interests include topics in general internal medicine and teaching of medical students. Dr. Kravec lives in Canfield, Ohio with his wife Cindy. He is a Youngstown native, graduating from Youngstown State University. His interests include local politics, landscaping and golf.


Steven D. Robbins, MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine, NEOUCOM
Associate Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency

Dr. Robbins is a graduate of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and completed his internal medicine residency at St. Elizabeth’s. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Robbins is a member of the American College of Physicians and the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine. His academic interests lie in the development of innovative educational activities and in the study of ethics from a Christian worldview. He has recently published The Third Tier, a small study skills book for the student-athlete.

David Gemmel, PhD
Director of Research, Humility of Mary Health Partners
Director of Medical Education

David Gemmel is a graduate of Youngstown State University (YSU) and the University of Akron. Dr. Gemmel has worked closely with local agencies and physicians on a diverse list of topics including, the epidemiology of pediatric lead poisoning. He has served as an instructor and adjunct professor at YSU and Kent State University (KSU) for courses in gerontology, medical sociology, statistics, research design and methods, social theory and evaluation. He has also served as community medicine clerkship director and instructor in biostatistics for Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM) in the MPH program.

Dr. Gemmel earned his doctorate at KSU in 2002 in medical sociology. He’s currently director of research for Humility of Mary Health Partners (2000-present), with oversight responsibilities for the Medical Research Committee, the Institutional Review Board, and clinical trials in the department.


Timothy Barreiro, DO, FACP
Pulmonary and Critical Care
Dr. Barreiro received his Bachelor of Arts degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1992, he continued his education at the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine, earning his D.O. degree in 1997. The following year, Dr. Barreiro completed residency training in internal medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh before beginning a Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York. Dr. Barreiro completed a fellowship in Academic Medicine at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, where he is now an assistant professor of Internal medicine with in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care. He is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and American College of Osteopathic Internist.

Dr. Barreiro lectures regarding the importance of academic medicine and research, health disparities and the importance of mentors and perseverance and resources in research. He is a member of the Master Teachers Guild and has strong interest and commitment in addressing minority health issues as a Health Disparities Scholar within the National Center on Minority Health & Health Disparities Department of Health and Human Services and serves on the Health Minority Task Force. As a representative of the American College of Osteopathic Internists, he participated in a cross-specialty initiative to develop and institute a policy on health-care disparity for the AOA, which integrates ethnic and cultural competencies into the core competencies required for all osteopathic colleges.

Dr. Barreiro supports the profession through membership in the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Osteopathic Internists and the Ohio Osteopathic Association.


Benjamin Hayek, MD
Chairman, Section of Geriatric Medicine
Assistant Professor of Medicine, NEOUCOM

Dr. Hayek is a graduate of The Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium Faculty of Medicine. He then completed clinical rotations at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Labrador Health Science Center; St. John's, Newfoundland. He returned to the Youngstown area and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at St. Elizabeth Health Center. He has been involved in clinical teaching since 1984 and has served as Director of the Transitional Residency Program and as a faculty member in the Department of Internal Medicine. He has gained extensive experience in managed care serving as Medical Director of Anthem Well point for the past 7 years.

He earned his Added Qualification in Geriatric Medicine from ABIM at the first seating of the examination in 1988, and subsequently recertified in 1998. He has remained involved with NEOUCOM and clinical teaching at multiple levels including serving as a preceptor site and lecturing.

He is involved in several community organizations designated to improve the delivery and quality of healthcare in the Mahoning Valley including the Ohio Quality Improvement Consortium and The Community Healthcare Initiatives, both sponsored by a consortium of industry-GM, the UAW, as well as insurers and the regional healthcare systems.

He has developed a series of lectures and presentations that are published at sponsoring websites inlcuding Anthem Well point and Ohio KeyPro. Areas of on-ging interest include healthcare policy, the economics of healthcare systems and implementation of evidence-based practices.


Nick Kreatsoulas, DO
Chief Medical Officer

Nick Kreatsoulas, DO, received his medical degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. He completed a rotating internship at Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio and an Emergency Medicine residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.

He is board certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. Currently, Dr. Kreatsoulas is the Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs at Humility of Mary Health Partners (HMHP). He also serves as the Medical Director of Case Management Services at HMHP.

He enjoys participating in resident medical education and works with residents and medical staff on complicated case dispositions and daily rounds.

Jim Graham, Pharm.D

James Graham, PharmD, completed his preparatory coursework at Youngstown State University (1971-1972) and Ohio Northern University (1973-1976). His terminal graduate degree was obtained from Ohio Northern University (1997-2000). He has been employed with Humility of Mary Health Partners from 1976 to the present. His current role is corporate manager of clinical pharmacy services for HMHP, including St. Elizabeth-Youngstown, St. Elizabeth-Boardman, and St. Joseph-Warren. In 2000, James Graham was awarded preceptor of the year by the Ohio State University. He is a member of the American Society of Hospital Pharmacy, the Medical Research Committee at HMHP, the Institutional Review Board, and the Ohio College of Clinical Pharmacy. His civic participation includes Boy Scouts of America, the Koursaros Society, and serving as a Sheriff's Deputy in both Trumbull and Mahoning Counties. Mr. Graham resides with his wife, Claudia, in Cortland, Ohio. His sons, John and Michael, are both medical students. He enjoys teaching pharmacokinetics to residents and students, restoring and driving his 1965 Pontiac GTO, outdoor activities and beating his sons at table foosball.
