St. Elizabeth Health Center, a Level 1 Trauma Center, is closely affiliated with our program and offers a variety of specialized rotations to our residents.

The purpose of the osteopathic orthopedic surgery training program is to:
  • Provide continuity of didactic and clinical experiences which will enable the resident to become proficient in the examination, diagnosis and treatment of orthopedic patients while integrating osteopathic principles and practice as they relate to the specialty.
  • Provide the resident with properly organized progressive responsibility in the care of patients.
The resident shall have graduated from an approved College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery and shall have satisfactorily completed a minimum of a one (1) year rotating internship in a hospital approved by the American Osteopathic Association.

The aim of this program is to provide quality training and education to osteopathic physicians who desire to prepare themselves for the practice of orthopedic surgery. The program will provide the basic requirements for eventual certification in orthopedic surgery by the American Osteopathic Association through the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery.

The progressive four (4) year program is intended to assure that the resident is well qualified to perform orthopedic surgical procedures and successfully assume orthopedic surgical practice at the end of the residency.

We welcome your call or visit, and at that time, will be able to more fully explain our program, benefit package and orient you to the great facility we have. Please feel free to contact the Medical Education Department, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at (330) 841-4774.
