In September 2007, St. Elizabeth Health Center became the first hospital in the region to offer the latest in minimally-invasive surgical approaches through the use of the da Vinci® Surgical System from Intuitive Surgical, Inc.
Utilizing this innovative robotic technology, surgeons can perform some of the most complex procedures through 1-2 cm incisions, thus significantly reducing the amount of blood loss, pain and length of stay in the hospital.
Initially, St. Elizabeth Health Center's status as the premier prostate cancer treatment center was reinforced by using the da Vinci® system in the treatment of that disease. Other applications include radical cystectomy and hysterectomy.
