In September 2007, St. Elizabeth Health Center became the first hospital in the region to offer the latest in minimally-invasive surgical approaches through the use of the da Vinci® Surgical System from Intuitive Surgical, Inc.
Utilizing this innovative robotic technology, surgeons can perform some of the most complex procedures through 1-2 cm incisions, thus significantly reducing the amount of blood loss, pain and length of stay in the hospital.
da Vinci is designed to expand the surgeon’s capabilities, and provide patients with a minimally invasive option for many complex procedures.
"The da Vinci and the da Vinci S robotic systems have given us the ability to see better and treat more effectively while offering the patient the most minimally invasive surgery possible," says Dan Ricchiuti, M.D., director of minimally invasive surgery, St. Elizabeth Health Center. "In our experience, this has meant a better operation for the patient with reduced complications, hospital stays and recovery time."
