Cancer Support Groups

HOPE (Helping Ourselves Physically and Emotionally support group is designed for current cancer patients undergoing treatment, survivors, and caregivers. The group aims to provide new information and topics to better one’s quality of life and also provide social support. Meetings are usually held every other month on the second Thursday of the month from 6-8pm at the St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital in the Azalea Room. BEACON is a support group linking breast cancer patients with other women who have had a similar breast cancer diagnosis. Support is provided to help breast cancer patients address the emotional, physical and social issues related to disease and treatment. Offered in collaboration with the American Cancer Society. Meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of every month at 7pm at the St. Joseph Cancer Center. For more information call 1-888-ACS-OHIO.

Look Good Feel Better is for women experiencing appearance-related side effects from chemotherapy or radiation treatment from any form of cancer. The program provides information and hands-on instruction on makeup and skincare and suggestions for using wigs, turbans and scarves. The program is free of charge and offered in collaboration with the American Cancer Society. For more information call 1-888-ACS-OHIO.

FOCUS (Friends Offering Compassionate Understanding Support) is a Mahoning County Breast Cancer Support Group. They meet the fourth Wednesday of every month at 7pm at the American Cancer Society office in Canfield, Ohio. Call 1-888-ACS-OHIO for more information.

Man to Man is a prostate cancer support group that meets the first Wednesday, every other month beginning in February at 7pm at the American Cancer Society office in Canfield, Ohio. Call 1-888-ACS-OHIO for more information.

African American Prostate Support Group meets from 6-8pm at the Beulah Temple Church in Youngstown on the fourth Monday of every month. Call 1-888-ACS-OHIO for more information.
