Diagnostic Sleep Labs Our diagnostic sleep laboratories specialize in both the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-related disorders for people who find getting enough sleep each night a constant challenge. Common Sleep Disorders Symptoms of sleep disorders can include, but are not limited to: If left untreated, these problems can lead to high blood pressure or irregular heart rhythms. The goal of our sleep laboratories is to aid in diagnosing sleep problems, help our patients understand them and, if necessary, assist physicians in treating them. All sleep studies are performed with a doctor's order. Sleep studies are completely painless and require no needles, shots or IV's. Electrodes are attached to the chin and scalp to monitor a patient's heartbeat, breathing and oxygen levels. The test takes approximately eight hours, depending on the patients sleep patterns. Staff & Credentials The Sleep Lab staff comes from a variety of backgrounds, but have all specialized in sleep medicine. Our staff consists of registered respiratory therapists, registered polysomnographic technologists, and certified polysomnographic technicians. Our medical director and all of our staff physicians have had special training in sleep disorders medicine. All technologists are certified in CPR and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Facilities Both sleep lab locations are easily accessible and are designed to provide a comfortable, hotel-like environment that is conducive to an accurate study. The St. Elizabeth Diagnostic Sleep Lab in Boardman offers pediatric sleep studies. Your physician can make a referral for a sleep study either by phone or fax. We will then forward the study to a specially trained physician for interpretation and a copy of his report and recommendations will be sent to your doctor. Please call your doctor so he or she can discuss the results with you.* *PLEASE NOTE: We are not permitted to discuss your test with you. It is the responsibility of your physician to discuss your test results with you. Please contact your doctor to find out if he/she has received your results. Your medical records are strictly confidential. Information collected during your sleep study will not be released to any person or organization without your written authorization. If you wish to have a report sent to anyone other than the physician who ordered your test, please ask the staff to give you a release form. We will then mail your report to whomever you wish.
